– The Orchestre Classique de Montréal (OCM), previously known as the McGill Chamber Orchestra, is proud to announce a special evening of opera to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the passing of internationally renowned opera singer (bass) and former chairman of the board of the OCM, Joseph Rouleau.
This commemorative event will feature a captivating selection of excerpts from the most celebrated operas by Mozart, Verdi, Bizet, Delibes, and Offenbach.
These masterpieces will be interpreted by a quartet of Canadian opera stars, accompanied by the OCM in its symphonic formation. It promises to be an unforgettable opera evening not to be missed.
“We are honored to present this tribute to Joseph Rouleau through the artistry of these exceptional Canadian opera talents,” said Jacques Lacombe, the OCM’s artistic director and conductor for the evening.
As a prelude to the main performance, starting at 6:30 PM in the foyer of the Maison Symphonique, there will be a recital featuring the young Innu soprano and Radio-Canada Classique revelation, Elisabeth St-Gelais, accompanied by pianist Louise Pelletier.
This special recital is made possible through the collaboration with Jeunesses Musicales Canada, celebrating their 75th anniversary this year.
