Mountain Lake PBS will present the first of a series of TV stories about the creation of
Promised Land: an Adirondack Folk Opera, on
Friday, December 7 at 8pm, on the program
Mountain Lake Journal. The piece, titled “What is Timbuctoo, and why are we singing about it?” will also appear on a new
opera-themed web page, to be launched the same day, at
mountainlake.org/folkopera. The page will also contain a series of supplementary interviews, and the content will increase over the next four months.
The opera is composed by Glenn McClure. The stories feature music sung by the Northern Lights Choir, under the artistic direction of Helen Demong.
Emmy award-winning producer Paul Larson is producing the series of TV stories for his “Spotlight” segment. Viewers may also enjoy the segment during repeats of Mountain Lake Journal on Saturday, December 8 at 7pm, and Sunday the 9th at 5am and 10am.
This project is supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts. www.arts.gov.
Additionally, “Spotlight” is made possible, in part, by the Glenn and Carol Pearsall Adirondack Foundation, dedicated to improving the quality of life for year-round residents of the Adirondack Park. pearsallfoundation.org “Spotlight” is also supported by Hill & Hollow Music. hillandhollowmusic.org
