On Thursday March 5th at Espace JAX, Montréal (QC), Orchestre Nouvelle Generation will present an imaginative concert that invites audiences into a lively musical dialogue with one of history’s most beloved composers, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Hide and Seek with Mozart begins with a fresh perspective on one of Mozart’s most profound chamber works: the String Quartet No. 15 in D minor, K. 421, presented in a vibrant new arrangement for string orchestra.
Darkly expressive yet deeply human, the quartet reveals Mozart at his most emotional and intimate.
Then, be ready for a mood shift:
Playfulness takes center stage in the world premiere of Playing Hide and Seek with Mozart by composer Yuliya Zakharava. Inspired by the iconic Eine kleine Nachtmusik, the piece transforms familiar melodies into a spirited musical game: full of surprises, echoes, and mischievous turns. Mozart’s voice appears and disappears, teasing the audience in a delightful game of musical hide-and-seek.
Both untamed and heartfelt, this program celebrates Mozart’s genius through conversation, transformation, and imagination. It’s a tribute that honors the past while inviting listeners to rediscover it in a completely new way.
About the Orchestre Nouvelle Génération
Founded by Yuli and Eleonora Turovsky in 2011 and under the artistic direction of Natasha Turovsky since 2014, the Orchestre Nouvelle Génération has cultivated a devoted following of enthusiastic audiences both in Montreal and internationally. Performing without a conductor, this dynamic eleven-player string ensemble is known for its intensity, enthusiasm, and unmistakable joy of music-making.
