Hemlock Woolly Adelgid Discovered in the Adirondacks

The first sightings of the invasive species the Hemlock Woolly Adelgid have been spotted in the Adirondacks. The Department of Environmental Conservation is asking hikers and campers in the Adirondacks to report any sightings of the white, woolly fuzz the insects leave on the underside of Hemlock branches. The toll-free DEC Forest Pest Information Hotline at 1-866-640-0652 can answer questions or be used to report possible sightings. More information can also be found on the DEC website:
