Gala Dynastie 2025: Celebrating Black Excellence in Arts, Culture, and Media.

The 9th annual Gala Dynastie, held last April 26th, 2025, at Montreal’s prestigious Théâtre Maisonneuve of La Place des Arts, once again delivered a powerful celebration of Black excellence across Quebec’s arts, media, and cultural sectors.

Organized by the Fondation Dynastie, the event honored exceptional individuals whose talent, creativity, and dedication continue to shape the province’s cultural fabric.

The Black Carpet (streamed live on the Fondation Dynastie’s Facebook page), to a stage packed with breathtaking performances and moving tributes, the evening exemplified the power of community, creativity, and visibility in the face of adversity.


A Host with Heart and Humor: Garihanna Jean-Louis Returns

For the second consecutive year, acclaimed comedian Garihanna Jean-Louis brought her signature style to the Gala as host. Dubbed the queen of comedy, she delivered sharp political commentary with warmth and wit, perfectly capturing the event’s blend of festivity and reflection. Her presence on stage was a true embodiment of the Gala’s spirit: joyful, bold, and unifying.


Electrifying Live Performances

The Gala dazzled with a vibrant artistic program, curated by the Conseil des arts de Montréal, showcasing the rich cultural tapestry of Quebec’s Black communities.

The stage lit up with powerful acts including:

  • Cirque Kalabanté – Opening act : a dynamic acrobatic act performance fusing various African traditions
  • Sajaa – soulful and intimate with jazz-infused vocals
  • Kizaba – a high-energy Afro-electronic experience
  • Jennifer Silencieux – emotionally resonant, including a heartfelt tribute
  • J Perry – closing the night with an explosion of Haitian konpa, zouk, and reggae

  • 🌟 Prix Impact Dynastie 2025: Tai TL
    This rising creative force was celebrated for reshaping the contemporary artistic landscape. Tai TL’s fearless innovation and cultural commentary represent the voice of a new generation.

A Tribute to Herby Moreau: The Star Chaser Remembered

The gala paid a touching tribute to Herby Moreau, the beloved journalist known for his red carpet interviews and cultural journalism. A moving performance by Jennifer Silencieux, a close friend of Herby, honored his legacy. Herby’s pioneering work helped elevate both Quebecois and Haitian culture on the global stage.

Amid a difficult context of shrinking cultural budgets, the Gala Dynastie proved that solidarity and commitment can sustain vibrant cultural celebrations.
