Fundraiser Helps Kids

A first of its kind fundraiser is being held next weekend to help the families of thousands of kids who are treated at the University of Vermont Children’s Hospital.

The Hull family from Jay, NY is planning what they’re calling the “Gala of Miracles” to raise money for the hospital and it’s staff that have become like family.

Their 8-year old son, Karson, has had cancer twice. He had surgery to remove tumors when he was 3, and then again just a month ago. He has now recovered and is cancer free. The family was so impressed with the care Karson has received over the years, they want to give back.

Karson’s dad, Cole, who is a woodworker, reached out to about a dozen other craftsmen, including Kit Clark from Ferrisburgh, Vermont, who are all volunteering to build and donate beautiful pieces of custom-made furniture for the auction.

Other donations include a baseball autographed by Jackie Bradley Jr. from the Boston Red Sox, and a hockey stick signed by members of the “Miracle on Ice” Olympic Hockey Team.
The gala is being held at the Whiteface Club and Resort in Lake Placid, next Saturday, October 13th at 5pm.

The Hull’s hope to make the fundraiser a yearly event to help the hospital, and raise money for research, to try to find a cure for childhood cancer, including Neuroblastoma, the rare type of cancer Karson has battled, and beaten, twice.

You can reach out to Cole and Holly Hull for more information on how to become sponsors, donate items for the auctions, or get tickets to the gala.
