Following in the Footsteps of Rockwell Kent

The galleries at the Plattsburgh State Art Museum have reopened to the public with an exhibit by photographer Denis Defibaugh, who retraced Rockwell Kent’s voyage in the 1930s to Greenland. North to Nuuk: Greenland After Rockwell Kent runs through March 11, 2022 at the Burke Gallery featuring photographs by Rochester Institute of Technology photography professor Denis Defibaugh who traveled to Greenland in 2016 to many of the same remote villages and islands where artist Rockwell Kent lived from 1929-1935. Some of Kent’s photographs and paintings from Greenland are on display in the near-by Slatkin Gallery including a rare map Kent used to navigate his way to Greenland, as well as a recording of an interview Kent did about his adventures and experiences in Greenland.
