Fifteen Dogs’ Barks Up a Storm at Montreal’s Segal Centre !

In a fetching fusion of literary depth and theatrical brilliance, the Segal Centre for Performing Arts in Montreal is proud to unveil its latest production: a stage adaptation of André Alexis’s Giller Prize-winning novel, “Fifteen Dogs.”

Set to grace the Sylvan Adams Theatre stage from March 31 to April 21, 2024, this delightful production is an enchanting exploration of the human condition through the eyes of man’s best friend.

Directed by the visionary Marie Farsi and brought to life by a stellar cast, including the likes of Amy Rutherford  (Soulpepper’s A Streetcar Named Desire),  Lucinda Davis, (appeared in the Segal’s production of The Angel and the Sparrow), and many other talented cast members, Fifteen Dogs” weaves a tale of philosophical inquiry and whimsical charm.

Imagine a modern world governed by Greek Gods, where canines are bestowed with human consciousness by the capricious gods Hermes and Apollo when they decide to challenge the other with a bet.

As these sentient beings grapple with newfound thoughts and emotions, they confront profound questions of morality, mortality, and the essence of their bond with humans.

What sets this adaptation apart is its unique setting in Montreal, offering audiences a canine perspective of the city’s beloved landmarks and locales: (Be on the lookout for our city’s iconic orange cones and infamous parking signs !).

With each bark and wag of the tail, the audience is invited into a world both familiar and fantastical, where the line between man and beast overlaps.
