On Sunday, April 19, FC Supra du Québec hosted its first-ever home match at the CEPSUM Stadium, welcoming reigning champions Atlético Ottawa in a highly anticipated Canadian Premier League (CPL) clash.

The event promised to be a celebration of community, culture, and the long-awaited arrival of top-tier professional soccer in Quebec.

The expansion side enters its home opener riding high after a dramatic 3–2 victory over Pacific FC in its inaugural CPL outing, a statement performance that has quickly ignited excitement among supporters.

For captain David Choinière, the occasion carries personal and provincial significance. A native of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Choinière returns home after seven seasons in the CPL, now leading a club representing Quebec on the national stage.

This home opener is going to be really special,” he said. “To play professionally in Quebec for the first time ever in this league is an honour.”

A Matchday Experience Beyond the Pitch

Fans arriving at CEPSUM could expect more than 90 minutes of soccer. The club has built its debut around a festival-like atmosphere designed to reflect Montreal’s diversity and creativity.

Pre-game festivities began at 12:30 p.m., transforming the stadium grounds into a lively hub featuring interactive activations, street performers, a live DJ, and a full cantina experience.

Local flair was front and center, with appearances from barbershop Maison Privée and tattoo artist Linus Yang, alongside giveaways and samples from national partners.

Music will also play a starring role. Supporters got their first taste of “Supra All The Way,” the club’s official anthem produced by Joyride Records.

Created by Montreal-based artists Ya Cetidon, Cruzito, Imposs, Karma Atchykah, and composer John Adam Howard, the track blends global influences with the city’s unmistakable sound.

A Dream Realized for Quebec Soccer

For club president Rocco Placentino, the home opener represents years of effort finally coming to life.

This day has been years in the making, it’s a dream come true,” Placentino said. “Our debut at CEPSUM is about honouring those who made this possible and opening our doors to the community. Families, supporters, and young players can come together and be part of something bigger.”

Founded in 2025, FC Supra is the first Quebec-based club to compete in the Canadian Premier League, Canada’s top domestic men’s league. The team’s motto, “À nous,” reflects its mission: to build a club rooted in local identity while developing homegrown talent and elevating the province’s presence in the national game.
