Extended Interview: NYS DEC Commissioner Basil Seggos

Watch our extended interview with Commissioner Seggos as we discuss efforts to combat other invasive species threatening the Adirondacks, including the Hemlock Woolly Adelgid and Emerald Ash Borer. We also talk about a pilot program to raise young Atlantic Salmon in pens in Lake Champlain in hopes of boosting their population in the Lake and near-by Saranac River. More on that program: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0OnGo7Xvb-w&ab_channel=MountainLakePBS. He also talks about DEC’s plans to spend millions of dollars to renovate the Imperial Mill dam on the Saranac in Plattsburgh. Plans call for adding a fish ladder to help salmon swim up-river to spawn. Environmental groups and several community leaders have called for the dam to be removed instead.
