During our recent weekend trip, my family of four adults had the pleasure of visiting and it truly turned out to be a memorable experience !

A Delicious Introduction to Maple Syrup
When we first arrived at the sugar shack, we were immediately greeted by the sweet smell of freshly made maple syrup, which set the tone for the day. We sat down to enjoy a traditional sugar shack meal (all you can eat !) , which included all the Quebecois classics: baked beans, ham and eggs, sausages, marinated beets and and a sweet selection of desserts (sugar pie and fluffy pancakes) , all generously drizzled with maple syrup.
The highlight, of course, was the taffy on snow—a fun experience where we got to pour hot maple syrup onto fresh snow, watch it harden, and then roll it up onto sticks to eat.
My parents loved this, and I have to admit, it was fun seeing them being nostalgic about their past experiences with taffy !
In the boutique afterward, we picked up some cans of their on site produced ciders ( sparkling and strawberry flavored !) to bring home as souvenirs. We also grabbed a couple of hard maple candies and cans of maple syrup. It felt great to take a piece of this sweet experience with us.
Fun for Everyone
What truly made our visit memorable, though, were the activities. There was something for everyone, from my parents, my 90 years old aunt and me.
- Taffy on Snow: As I mentioned, the taffy on snow was a big hit with our family. It was such a fun and interactive way to enjoy the maple syrup, and we couldn’t stop talking about it.
- Tractor Rides: We hopped onto a tractor ride that took us through the beautiful maple and apple groves and surrounding areas. It was a nice, relaxed way to enjoy the outdoors and learn a bit about how maple syrup is made.
- Playground for Kids: After the tractor ride, we observed kids had a blast at the playground. It was nice to see them running around and having so much fun.
Perfect for Special Occasions
While we were there for a simple family day out, I couldn’t help but notice that Érablière Charbonneau would be an amazing place for special events, too. The staff seemed to have plenty of experience hosting everything from weddings to corporate events. The rustic charm of the sugar shack and its beautiful surroundings would make for a unique and memorable celebration.
Easy to Access and Comfortable
Getting to Érablière Charbonneau was straightforward, with ample parking available. We even noticed an electric vehicle charging station, which I thought was a nice touch for eco-conscious visitors. The whole area was well-equipped to accommodate families and groups, making it an easy and comfortable destination for a day out.
Final Thoughts
Our visit to Érablière Charbonneau was nothing short of amazing. From the mouthwatering maple syrup treats to the variety of activities and the hospitality of the staff, it was the perfect mix of tradition, nature, and adventure. We all had a blast, whether we were enjoying the sweet taffy on snow, skiing through the woods, or simply relaxing in the beautiful surroundings.
