A follow-up to our cover story from a couple of weeks ago, the opening of a new detox and rehab unit in Schuyler Falls, New York, to help heroin and opioid addicts, and others struggling with substance abuse. Patients have had to travel hours away from home to get the help they need. Over the past four years, the Champlain Valley Family Center has worked with lawmakers, including State Senator Betty Little, to open a detox and rehab center in the North Country. The facility has 18 beds for men and women 18 years and older struggling with drug or alcohol addiction. The campus hopes to welcome their first patients by next week.
