David Cross Band Brings King Crimson Classics to Club Soda on October 27

Montreal music enthusiasts are in for a treat this Sunday, October 27, as the legendary David Cross Band takes the stage at Club Soda at 8 PM.

The band will pay homage to King Crimson’s iconic 1972-1974 era, performing a set that revisits the progressive rock band’s groundbreaking albums: Larks’ Tongues in Aspic, Starless & Bible Black, and Red.

Electric violin virtuoso David Cross –

King Crimson alumnus and electric violin virtuoso David Cross leads the band on this North American tour, where the spotlight will be on Larks’ Tongues in Aspic, performed in its entirety, alongside highlights from Starless and Bible Black and Red.

Fans can also expect improvisations reminiscent of King Crimson’s live shows during the Robert Fripp-led period, when Cross shared the stage with the likes of Bill Bruford, John Wetton, and Jamie Muir.

David Cross is no stranger to fans of progressive rock. As a former member of King Crimson, he played a pivotal role in shaping the band’s sound during a transformative period in their history.

His contributions can be heard on Larks’ Tongues in Aspic (1973) and Starless and Bible Black (1974), as well as the live track “Providence” on Red (1974).

Since leaving King Crimson, Cross has balanced a career in music and education, serving as a senior lecturer in music education at the London Metropolitan University while also pursuing various musical projects. His own band, formed in the 1990s, has released ten albums and toured extensively, including recent tours across Europe, Latin America, and Japan celebrating the 50th anniversary of Larks’ Tongues in Aspic.

The David Cross Band’s current lineup features some exceptional talent, including John Mitchell on guitar and lead vocals. A renowned musician and record producer, Mitchell brings experience from his work with bands like It Bites, Arena, Frost*, Kino, and the John Wetton Band. The band’s lineup also includes Sheila Maloney on keyboards, Mick Paul on bass guitar, and Jack Summerfield on drums.
