Crane School of Music Continues Their Annual Holiday Concert Tradition

In what’s become a treasured holiday tradition here in the North Country, The Crane Chorus and the Crane Symphony Orchestra come together every year to put on a candlelight concert.

This year’s performance was conducted by Jeffrey Francom and Joel Schut, and featured more than 250 carolers and musicians from the renowned Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam. The concert includes traditional Christmas and seasonal hymns along with popular favorites.
This year’s concert also featured one of Crane’s most famous alumni, Lisa Vroman, an opera singer & Broadway actress.

The holiday concert tradition began in the 1930s at what was then the Crane Institute of Music at Potsdam Normal School, and has continued to grow in size and prestige over the years.
We here at Mountain Lake Public Television recorded the concert and will televise it on Monday, December 17th at 9pm. We will also be sharing the Candlelight Concert nationally with PBS stations across the country.
