Crane Candlelight Concert adapts to COVID-19

COVID-19 has had quite an impact on many of our Christmas traditions. Hundreds of student and faculty musicians from SUNY Potsdam’s renowned Crane School of Music join together every year to celebrate the holiday season & give the “gift of music” to the community.

The annual Crane Candlelight holiday concert began in the 1930s and has continued to this day, for generations, with the Crane Chorus and Crane Symphony Orchestra putting on two performances, every Christmas, in Hosmer Hall on the SUNY Potsdam campus. But with the COVID outbreak, the traditional Christmas Concert with 300 carolers and musicians just wouldn’t be possible. So, this year, socially distanced students and faculty volunteered to perform a made for TV and Virtual Crane Candlelight Concert that you can watch here on Mountain Lake PBS on December 22nd at 8pm, or online at Mountain Lake.org. The concert, like in past years, will also be seen on more than a hundred public television stations, nationwide. Mountain Lake PBS is proud to share the Candlelight Concert with a national audience.
