Who Inspires You? | Craft in America: Inspiration
Grades 6-12
Use this resource to investigate the work of Alison Saar and discuss possible meaning in some of her artworks. View the video segment in which Alison, her mother, Betye, and her daughter, Maddy Leeser, talk about how they were inspired by Simon Rodia and the Watts Towers, their heritage, and each other. Then investigate materials, techniques, and processes for creating three-dimensional artworks using found objects and materials. Choose objects and materials to create your own artwork that sends a message or conveys meaning.
In school or at home, take advantage of the Watch & Wonder broadcast schedule.
