The Main – A Taste of Montreal’s Jewish, Italian and Chinese Communities

March 28, 2017 7:00 – 9:30 pm
Congregation Dorshei Emet, 18 Cleve Road, Hampsted QC

Premiere public screening of the English language film “La Main” by Montreal producer Paul Carvalho. La Main tells the story of Italian, Jewish, and Chinese people who settle along Saint-Laurent Boulevard, and the first encounters of French Canada with the rest of the world beyond the British Isles.  Each of these groups has enriched Montreal with their cultural traditions, but they have also suffered in different ways from prejudice and outright racism.

A fun discussion as well as culinary delights from the three communities will follow.

In partnership with Congregation Dorshei Emet.
