From May 25 to June 6, 2025, the Concours musical international de Montréal (CMIM) is once again setting the city ablaze with vocal brilliance, as it hosts the Voice 2025 edition: one of the most anticipated events in the world of classical music.
Dedicated entirely to the art of singing ( ARIA & ART SONG ) , this prestigious competition continues to be a beacon for discovering the most exceptional, well-rounded vocal talents of the next generation.
A Celebration of Voice in the Heart of Montreal
Voice has always held a special place in the CMIM’s history. The competition’s inaugural edition in 2002 was devoted to classical singing—a tribute to its deep roots in Montreal, a city known for producing some of Canada’s finest vocalists. Co-founded by the late, internationally acclaimed bass Joseph Rouleau and philanthropist André Bourbeau, the CMIM continues their legacy, proudly standing today as the only international voice competition of its kind in North America and among the most esteemed worldwide.

The preliminary rounds, held at Salle Bourgie, featured powerful performances and heartfelt artistry in both Aria and Art Song divisions, which were made possible by the collaborative brilliance of four outstanding pianists (featured below) and a overseen by a devoted jury.

Harolyn Blackwell, Iain Burnside, Etienne Dupuis, Anthony Freud, Roberto Mauro, Christina Scheppelmann and Delores Ziegler.

Now, the competition heads to the Maison symphonique de Montréal for the Semifinal and Grand Final, where voices will soar alongside the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal (OSM) under the baton of esteemed guest conductor Patrick Summers.
