CLINTON COUNTY DAY ON THE FARM 2019

Clinton County Farm Bureau held their biennial Day On The Farm on Saturday, August 24th at Giroux Family Farms in Plattsburgh, NY.

Along with horse-drawn wagon rides, farm equipment and agricultural exhibits, and free McCadam and Cabot cheese, visitors also got to meet Brant and his brother Brody who are a team of Brown Swiss oxen owned by Norm Davis.  There was also a petting zoo featuring baby goats courtesy of Country Dreams Farms.

One of the highlights of the day was a tour of Giroux Family Farms.  Owner Todd Giroux has rebuilt the farm after a devastating fire in 2017.  The family lost the entire milking barn and half their herd of dairy cattle.  The new, modern dairy barn includes the very first robotic milking system that automatically milks Giroux’s 73 dairy cows.  The tours on Saturday included demonstrations of the new computerized milking machines.

The event is held to benefit Clinton County Farm Bureau’s support of agriculture in Clinton County.
