Under financial stress from years of decline in enrollment, Clinton Community College is moving ahead with plans to move to the SUNY Plattsburgh Campus in 2025. The move is not a merger, and no cuts are planned for academic programs or student services, but by sharing facilities CCC President John Kowal says it will save the institution about $1-million-dollars a year in building operations and maintenance costs and help reduce the roughly $850,000 debt CCC is facing.
Meantime, Clinton County will begin work on finding new uses for the campus and its buildings/facilities which include the multi-million-dollar IAM Institute for Advanced Manufacturing that has become the centerpiece of much of the job training on the CCC campus since it opened in 2017.
