The Coronavirus pandemic has resulted in the loss of more than 3-million dollars in revenue for the City of Plattsburgh. Mayor Colin Read and City Councilors Mike Kelly and Ira Barbell held a news conference on Friday, April 17th, to outline proposed cuts, including a combination of temporary layoffs, early retirement packages, and eliminating several vacant positions. The City Council rejected a 35% tax increase for property owners in the City. Mayor Colin Read said he hopes to work with unions to find alternatives to layoffs.
