Crane Candelight Concert

The holiday concert tradition began in the 1930s at what was then the Crane Institute of Music at Potsdam Normal School, and has continued to grow in size and prestige over the years.
We here at Mountain Lake Public PBS recorded the concert and will televise it on Monday, December 17th at 9pm. We will also be sharing the Candlelight Concert nationally with PBS stations across the country.

Holidays at Hendricks

The Hendricks Chapel Choir under the direction of Dr. José “Peppie” Calvar with Dr. Anne Laver, University Organist, in collaboration with the Syracuse University Brass Ensemble directed by Dr. James T. Spencer, present Holidays at Hendricks annually in December. An ongoing CNY tradition, Holidays at Hendricks features guest ensembles from the Syracuse University’s Setnor School of Music. Guest ensembles have included the international award-winning Syracuse University Singers, under the direction of Dr. John Warren, and Syracuse University’s Vocal Jazz Ensemble, directed by Prof. Jeff Welcher, as well as the Syracuse University Women’s Choir and Concert Choir, directed by Dr. Hillary Ridgley and Peppie Calvar, respectively.

European Christmas Markets

Discover European Christmas Markets, where the town center, market square, or just the sides of narrow, cobblestone streets come alive in the dark of winter with festively decorated wooden stalls offering hot wine, regional food, Christmas decorations, sweet confections, toys, regional crafts and local entertainment. Visit eight enchanting medieval and castle towns in Europe, learn of their history, see their Christmas markets, and celebrate the magic of the season. It is a time of community, conviviality and color. The show is made all the more delightful by the folk arrangements of Christmas carols recorded especially for the show by The Kingston Trio. The show will fill your senses with the warmth of the holiday season.
