On Friday, June 28th, from 3-5pm, kick off the summer at the John Brown Farm State Historic Site with family-friendly activities, free summer learning resources, and more!
Smokey Bear is turning 80 this year! To celebrate America’s most popular spokes-bear, we’re learning all about the outdoors and fire safety. On Friday, June 28, from 3-5pm, families can join Mountain Lake PBS, Lake Placid Public Library, and more local organizations for a meet and great with Smokey!
Get an up close look at a fire truck with the Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department and take the Smokey Bear Pledge. Kids can earn environmental education badges, learn about trees from an expert, and get started on the Smokey Bear Summer Reading Challenge.
Visit the Mountain Lake PBS table for a FREE backpack* with:
- PBS KIDS activities and goodies
