Beyond the Peaks Student Film Fest
Mountain Lake PBS is proud to present the fourth Beyond the Peaks Student Film Festival — a festival celebrating creativity and amplifying youth voices across our region through film and digital storytelling!
Open to high school students, grades 9-12, located in NY, VT, and QC, the festival will run through the 2022-2023 school year.
Submissions will be due April 30, 2023, and a Red Carpet Showcase event will take place in May 2023.
Learn the ins and outs of film-making while empowering your students to create their own films. With Skills21 Launchpad students can access film-making tutorials and easily submit their work in a variety of categories.
Beyond the Peaks Student Film Festival is supported by the Lake Placid Institute for the Arts and Humanities. Additional support is provided by the Adirondack Foundation, and Adirondack for Kids.

Categories
Documentary
In the documentary category you are to create a documentary on a topic of your choosing. Your film must be under 5 minutes, and you must have credible interviews and b-roll. For preproduction you must include interview questions and a storyboard. A script is optional. You must also include a film poster, film trailer, synopsis and list all cast and crew.
Public Service Announcement
In the PSA category you are creating a public service announcement that has a run time of less than 90 seconds convincing your audience to take action. For pre-production you must include a script and storyboard. You must also include a film poster, film trailer, synopsis and list all cast and crew.
Drama
In the drama category you are creating a dramatic film that has a run time of less than 5 minutes. For pre-production you must include a script and storyboard. You must also include a film poster, film trailer, synopsis and list all cast and crew.
Comedy
In the comedy category you are creating a comedic film that has a run time of less than 5 minutes. For pre-production you must include a script and storyboard. You must also include a film poster, film trailer, synopsis and list all cast and crew.
Open
In the open category you are creating a film that has a run time of less than 5 minutes and doesn’t fit in any of the other categories. For pre-production you must include a script and storyboard. You must also include a film poster, film trailer, synopsis and list all cast and crew.
