The Montreal Bach Festival currently running in Montreal from NOVEMBER 22, 2018 TO DECEMBER 7, is North America’s premiere destination for the timeless musical genius of Johann Sebastian Bach and the cultural legacy that he has inspired.
Through a series of ticketed or free concerts and educational programs, the Bach Festival contributes significantly to Montreal’s international reputation as a cultural metropolis by showcasing local elite musicians to the world and bringing world class performers to Quebec.
One of this year’s headliner performances include Dec 7 th’s sold out concert at Maison Symphonique de Montréal by renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma, who will perform Bach’s Six Suites for Unaccompanied Cello !

Valérie Milot – Ensemble Caprice
Concertos for harp at Bourgie Hall on November 30th at 7:30 pm
For those who wish for a moment of pure serenity, ethereal local harpist Valérie Milot will present her own arrangements for three of Bach’s popular harpsichord concertos.
Also, with an eye towards building future repertoire for this perhaps overlooked instrument, the dedicated artist will premiere as well a new piece by Montreal composer Airat Ichmouratov.

Vivaldi, Bach & Boulianne!
Montreal’s star mezzo returns with the MCO & Bach Festival
Julie BoulianneAs part of the Bach Festival, Montreal gives a warm welcome home to Internationally-Acclaimed Coloratura Mezzo-Soprano Julie Boulianne who will be performing works by Vivaldi and Bach along with oboist Theodore Baskin and Timothy Hutchins on the flute this TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 27 at 7:30 PM at Saint-Jean-Baptiste Church.
She will also be interpreting a new piece by composer Barbara Croall : Zasakwaa (There is a Heavy Frost), a work inspired by Anishinaabe cosmology in which the mezzo-soprano soloist represents the ancient female island spirit.
Flutist Hutchins will represent a transformative figure, depicting the cold winds and elemental spirit breath of life.
Maestro Boris Brott shall be at the baton leading The McGill Chamber Orchestra.
This is a wonderful opportunity to hear the MCO at their prime for their 79th season and also to hear Croall’s new piece for it’s World’s Premiere !
