Monhegan Island Artist Colony

While Rockwell Kent is renowned for being the Adirondacks’ most famous painter, prior to living at Asgaard Farm, he lived off the coast of Maine, where his work was among those recently celebrated in a commemorative exhibition.

Our special contributor Doug Cook takes us to Monhegan Island in Maine.
The Monhegan Museum of Art & History is offering guided tours this summer of Rockwell Kent’s cottage and studio on the island.  The Museum is open through the end of September.

Another Adirondack artist has roots in Maine

From iconic seascapes to his beloved Adirondacks Winslow Homer, one of America’s greatest painters, has made a lasting impression.  The Portland Art Museum has opened Homer’s studio in near-by Scarborough, Maine to tours. Mountain Lake PBS special contributor Doug Cook takes us there.  For a schedule of tours of Homer’s Maine studio: www.portlandmuseum.org
