An Evening That Changes Lives: Inside the Inaugural Riot Ball

The Riot Foundation will unveil next January 30th the very first edition of its immersive philanthropic Ball, From Dusk till Dawn, at the prestigious InterContinental Montreal.

More than an elegant evening out, this inaugural event invites the public to take part in a powerful collective gesture that blends art, empathy, and meaningful social action.

Why This First Edition Matters

Every year in Quebec, more than 2,000 young people leave the youth protection system at age 18, often without adequate preparation for autonomy. One in four of these young adults will face serious mental health challenges, and up to 40 percent of people experiencing homelessness have previously been followed by youth protection services. Women are also disproportionately affected, with nearly 30 percent living in situations of significant precarity.

These figures reveal a reality that is well documented. What remains far less visible is the critical period that comes before the crisis, the fragile window when life trajectories are still being shaped, and when consistent human accompaniment could profoundly change the course of a life.

Acting Upstream, Where Change Is Still Possible

This is precisely where the Riot Foundation steps in. The organization focuses its efforts upstream, before rupture occurs, supporting young people preparing to leave the DPJ system, women in vulnerable situations, and individuals facing physical or mental health challenges.

Through empowerment and autonomy-building programs, psychosocial accompaniment, artistic and community initiatives, and the creation of safe, nurturing transitional spaces, the Foundation intervenes where every gesture of support can truly transform a life path.

Among its flagship projects is the very first Riot Home, set to open in summer 2026, offering a concrete and compassionate alternative at a pivotal moment in people’s lives.

The Riot Ball: From Dusk Till Dawn

Inspired by the symbolic passage from darkness to light, the Riot Ball has been conceived as a fully immersive artistic experience. Visual arts, music, lighting, live performance, and social storytelling will come together to create an atmosphere that is both moving and transformative.

Welcoming 300 guests, the evening will serve as a major fundraising moment for the Foundation, directly supporting its programs in preparation for independence, psychosocial support, artistic intervention, and the opening of the first Riot House.

This is where participation truly matters. By attending the Riot Ball on January 30, each guest becomes an active part of a support network that intervenes before lives reach a breaking point.

Voices Behind the Vision

The first Riot Ball is a collective declaration that no one should have to walk through life alone,” says Brigitte Teske, Founder of the Riot Foundation. “Too many people reach a breaking point without ever having access to a real human safety net. When society drops the ball, we are here to catch it.”

Artistic Director Marie-Sophie Rondeau adds, “When art, light, and solidarity come together, something profoundly transformative becomes possible. That is the experience we aim to create with the first Riot Ball.

Be Part of the Beginning

As its inaugural edition, From Dusk till Dawn marks the launch of a new tradition where art meets action and generosity becomes a catalyst for lasting change. Missing it means missing the moment where a movement begins.
