Founded in 1976 by tenor Alain Nonat, Théâtre Lyrichorégra 20 is a Canadian non-profit cultural organization whose main mission is to introduce and appreciate Opera to young and adult audiences and to support young Canadian opera singers in launching an international career.
Behind this celebrated event stands Théâtre Lyrichorégra 20 (L20) — a Montreal-based organization devoted to promoting classical music, opera, and dance to a wide audience. For over three decades, L20 has been dedicated to supporting and elevating emerging lyrical artists on both the national and international stages, providing them with valuable exposure and opportunities to grow their careers.
The Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques program, a cornerstone initiative of L20, continues to foster cultural exchange and artistic excellence by connecting young Canadian performers with global opera houses and festivals. The annual benefit gala not only highlights their extraordinary talent but also helps sustain the organization’s mission to inspire and nurture the next generation of classical artists.
