An Enchanting Evening of Music and Generosity: OCM’s Benefit End of Year Gala Concert honors Bernstein.

Last Friday, the spirit of music, community, and generosity came together in perfect harmony at Orchestre Classique de Montreal’s Benefit End of Year Gala Concert, (presented by Canso), which was an unforgettable evening that captivated hearts and uplifted souls.

The celebration began with elegance and culinary flair at Le Molière brasserie française, where select guests enjoyed a refined dinner in a setting as exquisite as the occasion itself.

The warm camaraderie, banter and shared purpose among attendees set the tone for a night dedicated to both artistry and giving back.

Following dinner, the festivities continued at the nearby Centre Pierre Péladeau (Salle Pierre Mercure), where an emotionally resonant concert paid tribute to the genius of Leonard Bernstein.

The program, performed without intermission, was 75 minutes of musical brilliance, blending Broadway exuberance with classical depth.

The audience was treated to breathtaking performances by an extraordinary lineup of talent: First violinist Marc Djokic, soprano Dr. Sharon Azrieli, mezzo soprano Julie Nesrallah, and baritone James Westman. Under the dynamic direction of guest conductor Mélanie Léonard, the orchestra delivered a performance that was both technically superb and emotionally unforgettable.

After the concert, guests gathered on stage for a celebratory dessert and sparkling wine reception, an intimate and joyful finale with the artists that brought the evening to a heartwarming close.

Adding to the evening’s excitement was a spirited auction raffle, featuring luxurious prizes that delighted attendees. Highlights included a certificate for a two night stay at the elegant Sofitel hotel, four prestige tickets to a Montreal Canadiens hockey game at the Bell Centre (valued at over $1,200), and a coveted full season subscription to the Orchestre Classique de Montréal (OCM).

This memorable night was made possible thanks to the incredible support of the orchestra’s community. Special thanks to RPIA, sponsor of the event’s auction, as well as to Joel Carrier, Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP, the Fondation Jacques Marchand, Fondation Opera Cares, and Chris Ann Nakis for their invaluable contributions.

All proceeds from the evening, support OCM’s mission to foster world class musical performance and education, investing in the future of the arts, one note at a time.

With music as its muse and philanthropy at its core, OCM’s Benefit Gala Concert was not only a celebration, it was a resounding reminder of the power of community and the enduring beauty of live performance.
