An eclectic evening of observable beauty at Chaos Decontrol’s first edition.

Chaos Decontrol was a unique multidisciplinary artistic event produced and directed by Eris D’Eir and co-founder Bella Rohachova, that took place at the Montreal Art Center and Museum last Friday April 14th 2023.

It featured a fantastic combination of circus, music, dance, and photography, providing a unique perspective on the hidden worlds of the wilderness, abandoned cities, and the NYC hardcore punk scene through the lens of David Siffert’s photography.

The numerous individual artistic performances taking place in the numerous nooks and crannies of the Art Center were outstanding. From contortion to acrobatic dance, ballet, classical music, and bluesy punk rock, the artists showcased their impressive skills with a diverse range of short acts that left the audience in a daze-like state throughout the evening.

.

Top performers who had worked with world-renowned companies such as Cirque du Soleil, Cirque Eloize, and Les 7 Doigts de la Main graced the stage, including Marjorie Nantel, Nathan Biggs-Penton, Fernando Gonzalez, Greg Selinger, Marianne Cecilia Cole, Kaya L’Heureux Hebert, Sarah Rodricks, Chris Spencer, Squeeze Mason, The Dragonfruits, Stephen Keefe, Booster Fawn, and Adam Schipper.

The Montreal Art Center and Museum provided an enchanting setting for this evening, with exquisite exhibition spaces and permanent galleries that guests were free to roam and discover. With over 50 resident artists, the center supports visual and performing artists and offers a truly unique experience for all who visit.

.

In addition to the fantastic art and performances, all art sale proceeds were donated to Earthjustice, a nonprofit environmental law organization that fights to protect wildlife, advance clean energy, and combat climate change. This made the event not only entertaining but also philanthropic.

.

There were two types of admission available. General Admission included access to David Siffert’s exhibition throughout the week and all performances and acts, as well as access to Montreal’s most authentic and historic speak-easy bar, where attendees could purchase art-inspired cocktails, mocktails and tasty bites from Ofour.

VIP Admission offered all of the above, plus a signed print from David Siffert, and a portion of ticket sales that were donated to Earthjustice.

I met Agathe Bisserier and her partner Adrien, who form an acrobatic duo that gave a stunning performance on Saturday the 15th at the Desjardins Theater in LaSalle called N.Ormes

N.Ormes” is a one-hour circus show that reveals a profound search for equality. Through this impressive and moving creation, the duo Agathe and Adrien push the limits and expectations of their own bodies and gender norms.
