There’s a push to change the law in New York so that volunteer fire departments are allowed to bill patients for the emergency care they give to those patients on the way to the hospital. Fire Officials from across New York State joined North Country Assemblyman Billy Jones to call on NYS lawmakers to pass a bill to change the law. New York is the only state in the nation in which volunteer fire departments aren’t allowed to bill patients for the emergency care their ambulances & EMS crews give to those patients on the way to the hospital.
