Amanpour on PBS

Attention all news junkies! Mountain Lake PBS is excited to announce we will begin broadcasting Amanpour on PBS beginning December 18th at 11:30.  The half-hour program hosted by noted journalist Christiane Amanpour will focus on current events, politics and international affairs.  The show will air Monday through Friday and be followed by a broadcast of PBS Newshour starting at midnight.

Featuring conversations with global leaders and decision makers on the issues affecting the world today, “Amanpour on PBS adds to the long tradition of public affairs programming that has been a hallmark of public media for decades,” says PBS President and CEO Paula Kerger.

CNN Chief International Correspondent Christiane Amanpour has earned every major television journalism award, including eleven News and Documentary Emmy Awards, four Peabody Awards, two George Polk Awards, three duPont-Columbia Awards and the Courage in Journalism Award. She has received nine honorary degrees, has been named a CBE and was this year inducted into the Cable Hall of Fame. She is an honorary citizen of Sarajevo and a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Freedom of the Press and the Safety of Journalists.

  1. Ms. Amanpour, In your interview of Simon Schama, he in a sanctimonious tone, ridiculed those who fail to accept or even apply scientific evidence in arriving at their conclusions. Could any reasonable person possibly disagree with that? You might think not. Well, I’m sorry to have to shatter your illusion. There’s a whole group of people, which could quite easily include Mr. Schama, who not only reject this lofty ideal but react aggressively and w ill engage in all sorts of shameful actions to destroy anyone who publicly tries to apply the scientific method, as to what really happened to European Jewry in the first part of the nineteen forties. To this closed minded, even bigoted, group it’s worse than blasphemous to ask for forensic or contemporaneous documentary evidence for the mind boggling claims they propagate. Unfortunately many intelligent and sophisticated people, who really know better, have allowed themselves to be cowed into silence or worse, pile on the ad hominem attacks for the sake of their career.
