All Over the World: The Art of Travel

You may take a trip around the globe at the Tannery Pond Center in North Creek, New York this month. Curious about where their neighbors had traveled, the Widlund Gallery committee invited anyone with a connection to the town of Johnsburg to submit art from or inspired by their travels beyond the North Country.

Spotlight producer Paul Larson and exhibit co-curator Kate Hartley discuss some of the objects you may explore in the exhibit.

From the Grand Canyon to India, Oregon to Croatia, Alaska to Cuba, New Mexico to Ireland, and so much more, neighbors in the Johnsburg area share their intrepid spirit and insatiable curiosity. While most are currently rooted at home in the Adirondacks, in this exhibit, they share stories of discovery, enlightenment, delight, awe, and exploration. They describe travel as a source of rejuvenation and learning, a time to connect with old friends and make new ones. They are dazzled and humbled by what they have seen.

The show includes photos, paintings, carvings, sacred objects, and sculptures.

The final day to see the exhibit is Saturday, February 12.
