They’re serving up breakfast & lunch at a new café that has opened on the site of a former Adirondack landmark. The Land of Make Believe in Upper Jay, New York was one of the first theme parks of its kind in the nation. Arto Monaco turned his backyard along the AuSable River into a magical place for generations of kids who visited the Adirondacks every summer. But after being ravaged repeatedly by floods over the years, Arto closed the park. Now, 14 years after his death and 6 years after Tropical Storm Irene washed away what was left of the Land of Make Believe, this new venture has risen from the ruins. Our Derek Muirden has the story.
