Grasse River Players will present the premiere of BEER: A Love Story, in Canton this May.
Written by award-winning playwright Elaine Kuracina, the musical is set in 1900 and follows the love story of Laura and William, who marry despite deep tensions between their families. William’s family owns a brewery, an enterprise the Whitten family, including Laura’s parents and sister, view as disgraceful. When tragedy strikes, Laura is left to confront an uncertain future and the daunting challenge of deciding whether to carry on the family business in a world that doubts a woman’s place in it. Amid grief and societal pressure, the story explores resilience, hope, and the enduring strength of love.

Kuracina lives in Potsdam, New York. She is a dentist, actress, vocalist, member of TAMS and Grasse River Players. She created the musical AMERICAN MUSE.
