Leaders Advocate for Reopening of U.S. Border with Canada

As Canada gets ready to reopen the Border to Americans on August 9th, when will the U-S follow suit? We’ll talk with North Country Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Garry Douglas.

  1. We are a transient campground where Canadian Campers come to stay so they do shop in and eat in Plattsburgh, NY. Last year in 2020 during the pandemic we only had about 5 essential workers working in this area. Again this year, we as campground owners are struggling to stay afloat. Some campgrounds have even sold their campgrounds.
Our seasonal campers couldn’t cross the border to camp at their campsites making it difficult to collect the fee on their campsites where their camper trailer resides at. Again this year, Prime Minister Trudeau will not allow Canadians to cross into the US. He has always made it difficult because he wants Canadians to shop in Canada to make the economy in Canada look good so he will be re-elected for another 4 years. P.M.Trudeau has never in the past been willing to work with any of our presidents in office. Products are less expensive here in the States for Canadians than they are in Canada. Because we are a seasonal business we did not qualify for any funds. We need help.
