SUNY Plattsburgh held its yearly ceremony this week to honor the nearly 3-thousand victims of the September 11th attacks 22 years ago. The Omicron Delta Kappa national honor society holds the ceremony near Hawkins Pond on the Plattsburgh State campus where there is a memorial dedicated to Robert Sutcliffe and William Erwin, two Plattsburgh State Graduates who were among those who died in the collapse of the Twin Towers. Many students at SUNY Plattsburgh either hadn’t been born yet, or were very young when the 9/11 attacks took place, but still, believe in the importance of remembering the lives lost and the lessons learned.
The students also honored New York State Trooper Brian Falb, a 9/11 first responder, who was assigned to the World Trade Center site in the days and weeks right after 9-11. Falb, who died of cancer related to his time at Ground Zero, died in 2017. Trooper Falb was also a Plattsburgh State Alum.
