The Battle of Plattsburgh commemoration is underway for 2024. Including, for the first time this year, a memorial to remember the important role that fort brown played in helping to defend Plattsburgh from the British army’s invasion in 1814. Also, for the first time, the names of 49 American sailors killed in the battle of Plattsburgh, who are buried on crab island, were read aloud at a memorial service at the new battlefield memorial gateway park in Plattsburgh.
