Town Supervisor Michael Cashman talks Development in Plattsburgh | MLJ Interview

After going virtual last year because of the pandemic, the North Country Chamber of Commerce’s yearly breakfast with the Mayor and Town Supervisor of Plattsburgh, and Chair of the Clinton County Legislature returned, in person this year. Mayor Chris Rosenquest talked about the city continuing to develop the Saranac River. He hopes to get the council to invest one-and-a-half-million-dollars in the city’s parks & recreation sites, and more than 2-million-dollars to develop a broadband & Wi-Fi network to offer city residents. Rosenquest said there are also challenges & needs, including housing. Mark Henry, Chair of the Clinton County Legislature talked about the hope that the newly paved runway at the airport will help lure a new airline to offer daily flights to Philadelphia replacing the current United Express flights to Washington. SkyWest, which operates the flights, is pulling out of Plattsburgh. Henry also talked about the encouraging signs that two companies are looking at locating at the former County Airport, which has been turned into an industrial park.

Cashman also talks about the development of the former County Airport, efforts to lure a new airline to replace the loss of the daily flights to Washington, as well as the efforts to lift restrictions at the Northern Border.
