RARE: Conservation Efforts in the Adirondacks at the Adirondack Research Consoritium Conference was held in Lake Placid, NY to discuss to discuss efforts to help threatened and endangered species.  These are some of the projects that conservation groups are working on this summer to help wildlife in the Adirondacks. From testing the iconic common loon for exposure to mercury, to the impact climate change may be having on the Bicknell’s Thrush (a rare songbird that nests in the high peaks) to work by the Nature Conservancy to build walkways to help wildlife avoid crossing highways. You can watch the presentations given by researchers at this year’s Adirondack Research Consortium conference held in Lake Placid in May.
