Artist in New Orleans honors lives lost with portrait series

Artist Brendon Palmer-Angell, a native of Plattsburgh, New York, currently lives in a city that is suffering many losses to COVID-19. His new series of work celebrates the people behind the statistics.

Spotlight producer Paul Larson and videographer Will Houle covered the creation of Palmer-Angell’s mural of movie star Jean Arthur last year, in her home town of Plattsburgh.  This year, Larson talks to the artist about his “Irreplaceable” series, portraits honoring lives lost in the city of New Orleans.

I love this post! Especially enjoyed the video about supporting life in New Orleans…..and elsewhere. No one person enjoys wearing a mask but we know that we must in order to get this Covid virus under control…..we must practice social distancing and we must be clean about ourselves and everything around us….we must! Benson Palmer Angel was my student at Cumberland Head Elementary School when he was a little boy….he was quite wonderful then and he remains so now….he comes from good stock! And he has a wonderful brother as well. i am so grateful for having been his librarian for 6 years and to continue in friendship with him and his family this many years later. God Bless them and the rest of us as well…..we all want to continue in this life and to help the world heal from centuries of meanness and division and hatred. Let’s DO IT!!
