In “Hero in Hawaii, Civil War Cannon, Stuntman Pioneer”, mysterious airplane engine parts lead Eduardo Pagan to a heroic story on a forbidden Hawaiian island. Then, Elyse Luray tries to match metal shavings to the right Civil War cannon and Wes Cowan connects a rodeo saddle to a star who changed Hollywood movie-making.

Before We Travel, We Research | History Detectives
Grades 6-12
One of the most important rules historians doing field research can remember is to do as much research as possible before going out into the field. Without this diligent research, the historian may miss vital clues, may overlook telling facts, and may not even have a solid idea of what to be looking for. In this lesson plan, students will research a historical site in order to determine that site’s historical significance to their community.
In school or at home, take advantage of the Watch & Wonder broadcast schedule. Running each weekday from 1-3 PM, Watch & Wonder is great for classroom viewing, distance instruction, and families looking to spend some extra, quality time together. Featured programs are ideal for kids in grades 6-12, encouraging creativity with the arts, kick starting innovation through STEM, and expanding their horizons with stories from across the globe!
