Beloved Beartracks Band Brings Bluegrass Back To Plattsburgh

Beartracks, the family-based nationally renowned bluegrass band with deep roots in the North Country, will bring their popular blend of timeless classics, celebrated originals, and good-natured banter to Plattsburgh’s Harborside Stage on July 24 at 7:30 p.m. 

Led by Saranac-born siblings Tom Venne and Julie Hogan-Venne, Beartracks provides the unmistakable close harmonies of two gifted artists who have been making music together for a lifetime. Inheriting their love for country music from their parents, and learning the intricacies of bluegrass music from their cousin, Junior Barber, the brother-and-sister duo have gone on to achieve a celebrated reputation at festivals from Colorado to Calgary and Pennsylvania to Prince Edward Island, including a highly acclaimed appearance this year at the prestigious Blistered Fingers festival in Maine. 

At this concert, Tom and Julie will be joined by the band’s newest member, virtuoso fiddle player Freeman Corey, and by quicksilver banjo player Terry Eamer from Peru, N.Y., providing a bluegrass quartet sound that promises to be second to none. 

The band’s support of all who have served our nation will be on full display at this concert, with representatives from the not-for-profit organization Disabled American Veterans joining forces with the artists to raise money at this concert for a new van that will transport veterans to their medical appointments at VA hospitals. During the concert, Tom will debut a song that he wrote in support of this cause. 

Gates at the Harborside Stage (located at 2 Dock Street, behind the D&H Railroad Station and adjacent to the City of Plattsburgh Marina) open for parking at 6:30 p.m., with the concert starting at 7:30 p.m. 

Admission is only $20 per carload (not per person), with proceeds going to the artists. Attendees can park and sit outside, or remain in their vehicles to hear the concert broadcast over their car radios. Audience members do not need to wear a face mask if they are fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Attendees can bring food and non-alcoholic beverages with them, but are respectfully requested not to bring alcoholic beverages or pets (service animals are welcome) to the concert site.
