Amtrak Adirondack Rail Line Suspended

Nearly 3 months after Amtrak’s Adirondack Line finally resumed service following a 3-year shutdown during the pandemic. the daily trains between Albany and Montreal are once again on hold. Amtrak says that Canadian National Railway has placed lower speed limits on its tracks north of the border anytime the temperature outside gets above 86 degrees. Amtrak has responded by suspending service to the northern leg of the route including stops in Plattsburgh and Montreal.
North Country Chamber of Commerce President Garry Douglas says the suspension of rail service as well as the lack of an open welcome center for Canadians traveling south on Interstate 87 are priorities that need to be addressed.
