Afternoon Tea the Downton Abbey way!

Following British traditions, in light of the new Downton Abbey film currently playing in theaters, fans will be delighted to learn that the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth hotel’s main restaurant Rosélys is offering themed afternoon tea luncheons with specially prepared sweet and salty bites inspired by the series.

Choose from a selection of over a dozen different gourmet green, black and white teas as well as a few premium teas for a small supplement, to accompany the warm scones, mini sandwiches , sweets and savory bites presented neatly on a three tiered platter by their Meilleur Ouvrier de France pastry chef, Jean-Marc Guillot.

Present your Downton Abbey movie ticket stub to receive a complimentary champagne flute and feel free to dress up with your friends and family in accordance to the theme for a full Downton experience.

I was very impressed by the attentiveness of the wait staff and glad that the restaurant is capable of accommodating different dietary restrictions.

The Pianist of Willesden Lane at the Segal Centre

This weekend is your last chance to see the much acclaimed musical performance of Mona Golabek in The Pianist of Willesden Lane.  Currently running for two more performances at the Segal Center for Performing Arts.

Golabek simply astounds with her moving solo, virtuoso piano storytelling performance that is a veritable musical memoir. Based on a very personal and true story, the audience follows the journey of young Jewish piano prodigy Lisa Jura from her lessons with her first piano professor in Vienna to her escape from Nazi-ruled Austria aboard the kinder train to the relative safety of London during the Blitzkrieg.

In this inspirational show, Jura’s daughter, Grammy-nominated piano virtuoso Mona Golabek, performs some of the world’s most beautiful music by Debussy, Bach, Grieg, Beethoven, and Chopin on a Steinway concert piano , as she shares her mother’s riveting story of survival.

You will hope, learn, travel and cry over this true and heartwarming tale of sacrifice, talent and ultimately Love.
