Beautiful, the Carole King Musical

Life doesn’t always go as planned…but often Beautiful surprises lie in store

 Evenko and Broadway Across Canada are proud to bring you Beautiful – The Carole King Musical, running until February 17th at Place des Arts in Montréal.

A fun and uplifting bio- show about the true story of the early life and career of the most prolific American, female singer songwriter, Carole King.

This jukebox musical with a book by Douglas McGrath and directed by Marc Bruni , shows how the Brooklyn born artist (Sarah Bockel) and her first husband Gerry Goffin (Dylan Wallach) knew great success in their teens writing “made to order songs” , several of which made it to the top of the American music charts.

Musical Highlights of the evening included “One Fine day” – Which marked a definitely turning point in the artist’s life, “(You make me feel like) A Natural Woman” and of course her title piece, ” Beautiful ” .

Audience were also introduced other successful contemporary song hits by musical peers such as Barry MannCynthia WeilPhil Spector and others.

The real beauty of this piece lies is the transition and growth that King undergoes, from being a modest songwriter to a confidant and independent star performer

Exhibition Process: Past. Present. Upcoming,

Come see the wonderful creativity and passion that went into the numerous regal stage costumes designed for stars like Diane Dufresne, Celine Dion, Julie Snyder, Ginette Reno, Michele Richard and many others during an exceptional retrospective exhibition highlighting the 45 years career span of costume designer Michel Robidas.

The exhibition is currently on display at the Centre D’art Diane Dufresne until the 17 of February.

An experienced guide will help you discover the life and personalities of the various stars whose adventures and success fit the extravagant outfits designed by Robidas.

 You will get the chance to come up close with costumes created for Cirque du Soleil, for the Denyse-Pelletier Theater, for the movie Stardom-The cult of the Denys Arcand‘s celebrity as well as several other variety television shows.

The exhibition has partnered up with the currently running Ice and Fire Festival in Repentigny. Children can participate in indoor workshops and adults can enjoy a complementary hot chocolate of coffee to keep warm.
