Sad Anniversary: This week's Cover Story on Mountain Lake Journal is the solemn 10-year anniversary of the sinking of the Ethan Allen tour boat on Lake George. A memorial service was held this fall to remember the 20 victims of one of the worst disasters ever in the Adirondacks.
We talk with the daughter of two of the victims, who returned to Lake George for the first time since the tragedy in October of 2005.
It was also a day local boaters, who rushed to the scene to try to rescue the elderly passengers, will never forget.
Hiker's Paradise: It may not be one of the 46 High Peaks, but Adirondack Guide Ed Kanze & Producer Josh Clement take us on a hike up a smaller mountain that is still a gem for climbers in the Adirondack Park.
It's Hip to be Square: We'll take you to one of the area’s most popular dance clubs, the North Country Squares, where they’ve been kicking up their heels, and do-si-doing for more than half-a-century. Club members say it's not only a fun time, but a great workout, both physically and mentally, as they learn and memorize thousands of calls and dance moves. The Squares offer free lessons every September in hopes of recruiting new members.
