Daffest is Saranac Lake, NY's annual community movement to plant ONE MILLION daffodil bulbs in the Saranac Lake Central School District and to celebrate those blooms each year with a fun filled festival called Daffest. The popular two-week festival is celebrating its 5th year with a slew of events and activities the whole family can enjoy. Daffest 2015 Schedule of Events
Friday, April 24th
5PM to 8PM: Blue Moon Daffest Kick-Off and welcome party.
5:00PM to 7:30PM: Daffest Try Mine Pastry Contest sponsored by King Arthur Flour! area bakers create a special pastry to compete for the title of Daffest Try Mine Baker 2015! Enjoy FREE samples and vote for your favorite. Top 3 Popular vote getters win prizes!
7:30PM: Bakers present to judges panel and are graded on Creativity, Presentation and Taste!
5:00 PM to 9:00 PM: Canvas, Cake and Cocktails (New Event) Sponsored By Say Rentals. Relax, Paint a picture, taste FREE Try Mine samples and enjoy a cocktail (Cash Bar) $30/PP all supplies provided and you leave with your masterpiece! 2 time slots 5PM-7PM or 7PM-9PM.
5:30PM to 7:00PM: Pre-Register available for the Daffest Derby. Pick up your Racing Bib so you don’t have to wait in line Saturday morning!

Saturday, April 25th
8AM: Daffest Derby Equipment Check…have the pros check your soap box derby car.
8:30AM: Woody’s Hots and Brats and SL Kiwanis Club will be offering a bake sale, hot dogs, michigans, coffee, hot cocoa and a host of deliciousness at the top of the race as you watch the trail runs and the Pit Crews busily working. Enjoy all the excitement!
9AM: Trial Runs Begin on Daffest Derby track
9AM-10:30AM: Registration for Daffest Derby, sign in and pick up your numbered bib!
11AM: Daffest Derby on LaPan Highway
Awards Ceremony immediately following the Pie Eating contest at 3PM!
9:30 to 4PM: Festival of the Blooms Riverside Park: Featuring Arthurs “On the Road” Food Truck Smoked BBQ foods. Ribs, pulled pork, beef brisket and baked beans, ribbon fries, burgers, hot dogs, marinated open-pit fire roasted roast beef and refreshments. Let’s Roll Egg Rolls (rueben, buffalo chicken, mac and cheese with bacon) to name a few, shrimp po-boy sandwiches, and shrimp and chicken lettuce wraps and poutine! Skyline of Tupper Lake with burgers, dogs, fries, Blue Line Brewery root beer floats, fried dough and more, High Peaks Sweets...cotton candy, snow cones, popcorn and more! And of course Little Italy Pizzeria with pizza by the slice, subs, garlic rolls, cannoli, and a full sit down menu, eat-in-dining! Come for the race, stay for the food!
Blue Line Sport Shop will be hosting a fishing clinic and Adirondack Lakes and Trails will be displaying the latest in Kayaks, SUP Boards and providing information on the adventures they are offering for 2015!
Several Venders will also be on hand including: Biscotti Kitchen (Rousse Point), Joanne Crafts (Peru), C&P Crafts (Plattsburgh), Paracord Design (Plattsburgh).
10AM: Chef Deb Misik and Paul Smith College baking students will set up the AP Smith Adirondack Bakery with 30’ of fresh baked goods for sale and baking demos!
11AM-4PM: Saranac Lake Youth Center Daffest Day Fair! Games of Chance, Prizes, face Painting!
3PM: DJ’s Rustic Restaurant Pie Eating Contest! Adults 14 and older, kids 5 to13!
7:30PM: Live Music at Saranac Village at Will Rogers Presents: Take Note -- The Karen Baker Trio Smooth sounds of jazz with Karen Baker on piano, Richard Sutphen on guitar and bass and Jeff LeFevbre on drums. $5 suggested donation. Thursday, April 30th
1PM: Wigmore Garden Tour: On the Shores of Oseetah Lake 1-3PM. Must pre-register, 30 people only.
7PM: Live Music at Pendragon Theater: The Wildeflowers, with special guests The Russ Bailey Trio. A Hobofest Fundraiser! Fueled by driving rhythms, haunting melodies and thought-provoking lyrics, The Wildeflowers explore the visionary mind and music of the wandering west-coast troubadour Jeremiah Weede. $15 advance, $20 at the door.
Saturday, May 2nd
9AM: Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Zoom in Blooms 5K Race: Adirondack Carousel; register at the SL Chamber or online at daffest.com.
10AM: Daffest Bruch! Run on over to Nonna Fina following the 5K!
