Wooden Canoes at Paul Smiths College

Before the advent of aluminum, fiberglass and plastic, canoes were made from natural materials; aka WOOD! There is a wonderful event held each July at Paul Smiths College that would be a "natural fit" for Derek Muirden's Roadside program. This year members and the public will attend the Woden Canoe Heritage Association's Annual Assembly at the College beginning on Tuesday, July 15 through Saturday, July 20, 2014. The theme of this year's event is "building tomorrow's classic canoes today" featuring the people who build canoes as they were built 100 years ago!
I wrote to WCFE about this last year, but nobody showed. Derek, you really owe it to yourself to come to this event...even if you don't cover it for Mountain Lakes PBS. It's a great fit for the Adirondacks!
