A commercial photographer drawn to the media coverage of the escape of two killers from the maximum-security prison in Dannemora, New York in June, has put together an exhibit of photographs that he took during the 3-week manhunt for the inmates.
Damian Battenelli's photographs capture a few of the major figures as well as some of the hundreds of law enforcement officers who took part in the search that ended with one of the inmates being shot and killed, and the other wounded and captured.
Battenelli's exhibit called "The Escape" will be on display in the Strand Center for the Arts Gallery in Plattsburgh through October 2nd.
Battenelli explains to Mountain Lake Journal's Thom Hallock why he put together the exhibit and talks about some of the highlights, including his favorite photo of former prison employee Joyce Mitchell as she was led out of court in handcuffs.
